“Paying for College”
Today, we went to room M136 to learn about Finical Aid. I have a plan for myself. I decide if I do not pass the CATW and ACT, I am going to study in Basic Skill; and I am going to cost half year on that. Then, I will go to college, and my Finical Aid will pay that for two years. In fact, I can sufficient use my Finical Aid.
Today, we went to the lecture what talks about Academic Literary, Speech Departments and English 101. Last week you asked some questions that make you confused, so now I will explain those to you. Basic Skills classes are the programs will teach you writing and reading when you do not pass the CATW and ACT. They have levels 205, 203, 201 for writing classes and they also have 226, 225 for reading classes. How long will it take is depends on when will you pass the placement text. On the other hand, you do not have to pay for these classes if you apply Financial Aid. But if you pass the CATW and ACT texts, you can study English 101. Then, after English 101, you have to take English 102. I suppose to you a professor names David Rothman. He is teaching in English 101. Mr. Rothman is a really good professor in English 101 and he also gave us a good presentation today.
Today I listened to a lecture on CUNY Start and ASAP given by Madhumita Chandra and Najwa Argandwall. CUNY Start is a program that provides instruction in academic reading, writing and math for college bound students who have not pass the CUNY placement test. The program just costs $75 include books. This program will not use students’ Financial Aid and save them money for college credits use. The length of this program is average sixteen weeks. The ASAP program is a helpful program for students’ major study, time management and credits chooses. The program has lots of benefit, such as dedicated advisement, enhanced carrier development services, and free monthly metro cards. The ASAP program office is in W building rooms 110 and 113. Students can also visit www.qcc.cunt.edu/ASAP to find out more about the program.
